The Marjorie Kovler Center for the Treatment of Survivors of Torture is one of the first torture treatment centers in the United States. Established in 1987, the Marjorie Kovler Center (MKC) provides mental health, medical, legal, and social services; trains and educates locally and globally; and advocates for the needs of asylum seekers and refugees and the end of torture worldwide.

Our model emphasises the political dimensions of torture and forced migration and applies a strengths-based, trauma-informed framework to support each survivor’s healing process. Kovler Center is a member of the US National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs and is the US-based programme of the Heartland Alliance International.
