IRCT humbled by donation: Edward Brown's legacy lives!

Edward Brown's family has generously donated 45.000 EUR in his memory to the IRCT, all of which will go directly to our work with survivors of torture.

IRCT humbled by donation: Edward Brown's legacy lives!
Edward Brown emigrated to South Africa with his parents from the UK at the age of 4-5 years in 1936. He grew up there during the apartheid era and was active at the University of Witwatersrand in student protests against  the Apartheid. He completed his studies and became a chartered accountant but had to leave South Africa due to his activism. Edward's lived-experience gave him a clear understanding of the injustice of the apartheid system. The injustice he witnessed and treatment he was subjected to as an activist motivated him to make a generous contributions to many organisations, one of them being IRCT. Edward had knowledge of the work of IRCT and respected it.
His contribution will support torture survivors on their pathway to rebuilding their lives and fighting for justice.
